Dr Amanda Roberts is a Specialist General Practitioner with a passion for inclusive, community-focused care. Originally from South Africa, Amanda moved to Cairns in 2007 and worked for a decade with the Royal Flying Doctor Service, delivering vital medical services across regional and remote Queensland. She later founded Stratford Medical Centre, driven by a mission to make high-quality GP care accessible to all.
A passionate advocate for the disadvantaged, Amanda created the Wheels of Wellness (WoW) mobile health initiative, bringing primary care to marginalised populations. Her leadership and service have been recognised through multiple awards, including the 2016 Cairns Small Business Award and finalist nominations in the JCU Business Excellence Awards and Australian Institute of Management Leadership Awards. Amanda served on the WoW Board until 2021 and remains actively engaged in governance, training, and advocacy roles.
She is a Designated Aviation Medical Examiner (DAME), with special interests in emergency medicine, mental health, community care, and integrated models of healthcare. Outside the clinic, Amanda mentors GP registrars and international graduates, speaks publicly on health topics, and contributes to clinical governance through her position with Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service. She’s also a proud mum, animal lover, and regular foster carer.
